Last year's bbq was such a success that mrs. Moose and I are making it an annual event.
Just like last year, we will provide the hot dogs, beans and condiments. All you have to bring is a side dish and your favorite beverage.
We'll be throwing the doors open at noon and we'll kicking out the stragglers when we get tired.
you single guys (and girls) are welcome to bring a guest. And of course kids are welcome.
If anyone has dog phobias, please be aware that we have two big, friendly dogs. There's no fear of be bitten, but you might get licked to death.
I'll post up a google map and anything else I can think of soon.

Hey gals and guys. For the benefit of the new people, I thought that I'd mention that I am an avid homebrewer.
So I was thinking that there is enough time between now and first of October to brew up a specialty beer for the bbq.
I have ingredients on hand to brew up a "California golden" style. But all it would take is a quick trip to the lhbs for ingredients for pretty much any style beer.
I know that rob, ramone, jayson like the extra hoppy ipa style of beer, but what do the rest of you like? I can do golden ales, ambers, iris reds, northern browns, porters, stouts, ipas, bocks, barley wines, pretty much anything except pilsners and lagers (those require extra equipment).
So what do you think? How about some feedback. If I don't hear from you, I'll probably make something that only I will like!

Sunday morning I brewed up a batch of black gold. That's one of my own recipes. It should come out medium dark, with medium toasted malt flavor and a sharp hops profile.
I used three different hops for complexity. Mt hood, fuggles and some cascade for aroma. I think it will come out pretty good. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I was thinking of rebranding it for the event. How about "terra brown" or "IH rust"? Ideas?

Mrs. Moose says I'm free all weekend. So I'll pick up the ingredients at the lhbs today at lunch time.
If I don't hear otherwise, I'm planning on going with an ipa or a double ipa. IHPA? (International Harvester pale ale?)

edit: ipa it is! Hi david, I look forward to meeting you at the rallye. Yes, we can always use more help! Thanks. I don't know if we will be needing your burning skills, we're already pretty good at burning stuff. Ha ha.

It's official. The IH ipa has been brewed!
Yesterday rob and jayson came over early and gave me a hand with the brewing. Everything went well and we now have 4 1/2 gallons of b.a.b.s. Finest in the primary fermenter. As of this morning, the air lock is bubbling nicely. So all systems are go!

Here's a picture of the malt extract addition team in action.

And here is the beer in its resting place for the next two weeks.

In two weeks we will bottle it and let it start conditioning for the bbq.

Edit: the dry hops went in yesterday. The gravity is falling nicely.
Edit: fermentation is done! Time to bottle and start designing labels.
Edit: it's bottled. Boy, did it smell good. Final abv=7.5%

We are in the middle of the block, on the left. Look for ol' rusty parked in the driveway.

So, who's coming? How many are you bringing? What side dish are you going to treat us to?
Please post up so that I know how many dogs and buns to buy.

Mike,

that's cool
ya know, I've been to almost every lhbs in the south and east bay but never to a more beer.
Did you see their tv reality show?
