Well fellow babsers, it's almost November and you know what that means. Only five weeks until the annual toy run! :yikes:
as announced at the October meeting, this year's run will be:

Sunday December 11th starting at the '50's dinner. (39405 fremont blvd, 94538, between walnut ave & stevenson)

show up and have lunch at 11:30 - 12:30
decorate the vehicles/kick the tires 12:30 - 12:45
parade on down to the warm springs firehouse 12:45
deliver the toys and receive a tour of the station 1:00
wrap it up and head home 2:00

feel free to use the attached poster if you want to put out a collection box where you work/local businesses or when you hit up your neighbors for donations. In the next day or two I'll finish the artwork for this year's stand-up table gizmos. They really seemed to make a big difference last year at the two restaurants I left bins at.

'till then, I hope to see you there.

Ok, I finished the table do-dads.
The idea is to give 20 or 30 of these to the restaurant when they grant you permission to put a bin/box in their lobby. They put them on the tables for the customers to read and the regulars bring toys on their next visit.
Let me tell you, this little gimmick made a huge difference last year. You saw how much stuff they had waiting for us at the dinner.
Karen and I have only ever asked three business if we could put a box in their lobby, and they all said yes. So I'm hoping that a few of you other babsers could maybe do the same? Or for the guys that make service/delivery calls, perhaps you could leave a flyer with your regulars and pick up when you see them next time?
Anyway to use these things just download the pdf, print them out and cut them down the middle. Fold them along the lines and tape the bottom tabs together. Like this....

I put two boxes out at work and taped up a bunch of fliers yesterday.
Last year my company donated 15-20 toys. Not bad, but I expected better. This year I'm gonna do a mass e-mailing once a week to remind them.
How are the rest of you doing?

Marty

It's November 19th already. We're halfway through this year's toy drive. The nice folks at my work have just about filled one of those collection boxes.
How are you all doing?:icon_question:
I've got it set up with ffd to give us a tour of the firehouse when we get there.

.

The babs Christmas tree ornament that marty ordered came in. One will be handed out for each truck to show up.

The tree is 5” tall.

He's looking into getting a star and bell for us.

Hope you guys have a great time!
My Scout is in pieces at the moment and will not be ready to roll Sunday. :(

I am in the middle of a custom reverse shackle, Rough Country 2.5 inch lift, new rear brakes, carb rebuild..... Hope to get her on the road before the new year hits.....

I stopped by the '50s diner yesterday to reserve our table for Sunday. Wow, they have filled three large boxes for us! Abaldo says that one lady has donated three times already.
My company has filled two boxes. It looks like it's going to be another record year for the toy drive.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Marty
