The basics.
72 scout II
Drive train (soon to be swapped to a L96 or small block)
345 v8.
727 trans
Transfer case unsure. (But it is twin stick)
Dana 44 f & r
Way to much lift but going to start that fresh also.
My question is this:
My axles have already been sprung over in the past but it was to accommodate the ridiculous lift I had on it and the pinion is pointing way to high.
I am wanting to go 8 lug. So I sourced a 1 ton c&c 14 bolt and 3/4 ton Chevy full size d44 front.
WHAT DIRECTION SHOULD I GO?
The way I see it I have 3 options for the front.
1: Redo the spring over on the scout front end and swap out the outers for Chevy parts.
2: Narrow the already sprung over chevy d44 to match the 14 bolt.
3: Run the full size d44 (I realize the perch width is wider and will address that when I pick up the shackle reversal kit) and build out the 14 bolt with disk brakes and SRW hubs to get close to the front end width.
Also I will be running H2 wheels with 35”-37” tires.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
