Auto Insurance

I'm guessing there might be more than one person here that has invested more money than they paid for their Scout. Is there any insurance companies that will insure a Scout for what the "street" value is, rather than the "blue book" value?

I'd wager almost everyone has sunk more money into their IH than what they originally paid. That's pretty much an unavoidable law of the universe. In some cases it shows and in others it looks like good money tossed after bad. Are there any classic vehicle appraisers in your area with a good grasp on evaluating vintage orphan 4x4 vehicles? I think finding one would be a good first step towards accomplishing your goal. Any insurance company will want to see hard numbers from a credible source before they agree that your prized binder is worth anywhere near what you hope it is.

Both grundy and hagerty have what is called "agreed value" insurance. You tell them what you think a total loss of the vehicle would be and they calculate the premium for that value. Could be $25k or $10k.

Progressive is also now offering classic car insurance. My Scout II has full coverage with a loss value of 5,000.00.

Find/contact an agent.

I forget what they call it, but ou can customize your insurance for specific items. A good agent will help you figure it out.

For example, besides my homeowner insurance, we have my wife's wedding ring insured on top of the regular home stuff. (this applies to theft or destruction only).
