Anybody need a KB-5?

so in my seemingly endless quest for an old truck to play with, I came across a kb-5 of unknown vintage. It's been in a barn for the past 25 years and appears to be complete and relatively rust free. It has a flat/stake bed and appears to have a two speed axle and dual rear wheels. Beyond that I don't know what it is, or what it has.

This is too big and heavy duty for what I want, but I think it can be had cheap.
So is anyone here interested? If so, I can find out more. Does anyone want to trade for something less heavy duty?

I've always wanted to drop one down on a more modern chassis and build it into a toter home. Of course I too am light years and millions of dollars away from that kind of project.

That isn't a kb-5, it's a 6 or bigger. The 5's still have the headlights mounted in the fenders, not on top like the bigger trucks. It's still a good looking rig, and unique. Nothing something I would own, a little too new. The mirrors just don't work for me!

Depending upon how cheap and how much work is involved in returning it to road duty, I might be. I'd like to get something a bit heavier for Dad to haul his house with than what he currently has:

This van has a low milage 460 in it that if planted in the binder, would make a good hauler. The trailer itself weighs around 12k from what I'm told. The tongue weight alone squashes this e-250, even with the load compensator bars at full attention. the only reason it sits level in this pict is because of the 4x4 blocks between the frame and axle.

anyway,... Can you get a pict of it to post?

Jeff, I can't get a picture that is meaningful. It sits in a barn with crap piled 6 feet high all around it. The dump bed pictured above is a fair representation of it, but in much nicer shape.
It has at least 3 flat tires and all the rubber is rotted off. It was last licensed in 84, so it's a sure bet it doesn't run and never will, in it's present configuration.

For what you propose, this would be a huge project.
Remember, this thing is at least 59 years old.
You need would upgrade the complete drivetrain, axles, brakes, suspension and steering to modern stuff to make a suitable tow rig. Then you would need to upgrade the 6 volt electrics, replace all the rubber, interior, instruments, paint etc.

This would be better suited to a puddle jumper, part time farm rig or parade rig, or better yet a parts rig.

Ah, ok. Definitely more than I am looking for right now. I assumed that it was halfway decent and I could swap in the 460/c6 to power it, and in my excitement I overlooked your statement of condition in post #3. Doh! thanks.

I've found a mid 60's cabover locally that's the perfect size and appears to be in good shape, but I haven't been able to get back to it to see if I could get my hands on it. I will once it gets warmer here though, since I might have to sleep in it if I drag it home.
