Did searching and think I have general direction. But want to see if I'm on the right page...pulled out the driver side fuel tank, cleaned it and removed the battered fuel sending unit. Ordered a new sender, but before installing everything I wanted to see if I could get a reading... So I simply hooked up the new sending unit, turned the ignition to the accessory position, and manually moved the float... Nothing. So on a whim I switched the tank selector to the driver side, which still has the tank installed, and the gauge started to move! So my question is, is there a reason the sender would have to be installed on the tank to get a reading? Second question, not electrical, but semi related, the bolts on the driver side connecting the straps to the frame only spin... Seems like both nuts have come loose inside the rail. Any "better" ways to remove this tank?? Or should I try cutting the bolts and down the road weld a plate with a new nut? Thanks for everyone's help on this forum! Has been an invaluable tool to get the hornet back on the road!!
