If it gets re-scheduled, it would be for after Christmas.

Sorry Matt! I'm sure you were looking forward to it. I just dont want to risk anybodys safety and well being. I'm sure I'll get bit in the ass by this and the weather will be perfect Saturday:sosp:

Go to school and become a weatherman. It's the perfect job, you can be wrong 75% of the time and still not get fired!:icon_eek:

Why not just run for congress, suk on tha taxpayer teat, and still git yore contract renewed every few years as long as ya deliver tha hawgslop to tha right folks, preferably with a cheecargo accent?

Geez, I was suggesting an employment opportunity. Not an opportunity to turn into a money sucking slimebag!:icon_eek:

Anyone got tips for a good location in the tsf?

I'm fairly familiar with the trails around brown's camp and I know there's no lack of roads and trails up in them thar hills, but I'd also like to find a reasonably safe spot/clearing to let the kids get out and play in the snow after offroading for a bit.

Here is the current trail map for the tsf. They were out of the paper versions at the gales creek shell station store last weekend... (10meg pdf, be warned slow internet people)

oregon department of forestry off-highway vehicle trail map

I need to figure out how to print this at work on our color plotter and not lose my job :d

my only advice is stay out of the 'rough' stuff if you don't have a buddy wheeling with you....

There are some good clearings up the beaver dam main line. Like your heading to fire break 5 but not all the way there.

I talked to my old man half hour ago and he says its spitting snow at his place. Roughly 800ft elv in the cascade foothills.

Terry, I saw you bombing down 99 today about 1:30 ish with a tarped load. I forgot that your on a 4 day schedule.

Lucky! it's trying to snow over on the hwy 34 pass on mary's peak. Hope it accumulates some so I can go wheelin tomorrow and Sunday! We'll see.:winky:

Was that when we were following eddie and katherine in the clapped out motorhome, that looked like it was trying to pull a wheelie??
I wouldn't call 40mph "bombing"

Went wheeling today with my friends and had a good time. Wasn't that much snow, but got to figure out the limits of the Scout. Weight is definitely an issue! Might be putting some thinner rockers on here this summer, as 3/8 get's the job done, but is a little overkill!:winky: didn't need the 200# winch either. Put the 33x12.5's on, as they're really 32x11's w/95% tread. I might have rubbed once going over a ditch, but that was it. Toyota's have a much better power to weight ratio, but not every one has a Scout!:dita: got stuck a couple times, but only one required a yank. Snow shovels are pretty handy! Here's some pics, and will be going up again tomorrow!

Here's todays report. Went up on prairie mountain and had a blast. There was a lot more snow and we were the only ones up there until just about the top. Fresh snow is sooo much better than old!:winky: was pushing snow and really caked it up. will have fun going to work tomorrow on an ice sheet!:dita:

Wow Mike! I should be there. Oh well, the daughter's pick up is now safe to drive. Looks like them vacuum wipers are a bit wimpy. Mine was the same, but I haven't had the rig in the snow since I rebuilt them. Sure is nice cutt'in the virgin stuff:gringrin:

Yeah, the wipers had problems and I had to stop and clean the windshield off once, but after all they are 46 years old!:dita: might have to tread through virgin snow on my way to work. Not quite used to eastern oregon snow yet!

Glad somebody had fun in the snow. As I look outside my den window all I see is a white blanket over everything and my work van does not like the snow. I might have to take the day off and play.

For all I know, I might be at work when it is shut down! Only a couple people are here, and one of my bosses/co workers can't find the weather #. Oh well, got nothing to do so far.:nono:

Went up today, and my previous notion was right, these kelley safari tires suck! The huge continuous z lug in the center is a hindrance and I need to get a tire tread cutting tool and cut some siping into these! I wasn't able to get really any traction and had to put chains on the front. My rear end kept trying to go one way or the other or completely pass me. The tires are at 15 psi, but max is 20 for these baby's!:dita: anyway, got up to where there was over 2 feet and was plowing snow with my bumper.:winky: no one came up to where we were, and I got to drive in fresh untouched snow the whole way up! My friend w/ some good at's and open axles was doing better then I was again! Dad came with and did okay, but the mud terrain's didn't grab as well as the at's. Had fun and spent a while digging the Scout out as I started to slide off the road when the snow got too deep!
