Aluminum Intake MPFI drilling.

I own a rpt aluminum intake for 345 - squarebore. I would like to convert my engine to mpfi from its current carburated configuration. I understand I need to have the intake drilled to accept the injectors, is this something a local machine shop can do or do you offer this service. Any information about the spec's of what I need drilled would be greatly appreciated.

Wence,

I have an email out to afi on the machining of your intake as well as current price/availability of a mpfi kit. Soon as I get a response back I'll post up.

Hey any news on drilling a manifold for an mpfi system. Is this something you could do to a stock manifold? If so what are we looking at for cost?

It could be accomplished but you would need to add the bung to each runner to accept the port injectors and accompaning seal. Bore the hole and braze them in with a pilot diameter. You can buy the bungs ( only seen aluminum ones) or get the recommended inside profile and machine them. The injector manufacturer should have the info. The above machine work if you cannot do it your self will likely cost you more than a rtp manifold so I would buy a manifold from Jeff and bore the injector deetail in to the cast in locations.

A common fuel rail would then be needed to feed each row of injectors. Got to assume the port seperation distance is not an off the shelf deal so two of those will need to be custom fabbed.

All common stuff but will take time to get right.

The machine work can be performed by just about any machine shop.
Price will be based on how long it takes them to set up and perform the job.
I would guess 1-2 hrs at whatever their price is.
Normally $50-100/hr.
