Adding heat/AC to a scout 80

I have a 62 scout 80 and want to add AC to it. Obviously the space behind the dash is minimal. I'd rather not lose the glovebox, but gather that's pretty much mandatory.

I've found these pics of a hurricane unit.

But was hoping that someone had gotten further along with a less obtrusive option.

As far as stuffing ten pounds of crap into a five pound sack goes, that setup looks pretty slick! You can always get a Tuffy Security center console to regain the lost storage space.
 
All of the AC systems that use a combined heat/evaporator are going to be too large for the location you are planning to use. I had a system in my 65 80 that had a remote evap. under the dash, but used a secondary blower and OEM heater. That all fit while still allowing the glove box. The foot well was unobstructed also. I'll look for some pix.
