Accelerator cable

I recently bought this scout and the pedal arm pulls the throttle cable at an angle causing it to rub through the firewall. Not sure how to remedy. Attached are pics of the pedal arm and cable. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Bend the arm on the accelerator pedal into better alignment. Looks like it's been repaired. If you have a torch to heat it. You'll probably need to remove the C clip on the right side and put the pedal in a vice to bend with breaking anything.

has it frayed any ? my accel pedal is a little bent, from a wreck i had in 97, and my cable has rubbed a little bit ever sense. it took 17 years for enough friction to fray the cable and break it. happened on a trail in moab. i was prepared, had an extra. where mine rubs i put a little dab of white lithium grease.

as said above bend it best you can, and a little lube if it still rubs some, and keep an eye on it, it will last a long long time
