Accelerator and Idle Issue

So today I am driving to work and when I get there I notice a high idle when I pull in (very high). Didn't think much about it until I had to drive it again. Noticed I really had no power and could floor her and top out at about 40. No real pedal accelerator response. High idle also continued. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Not sure if this related, but I have also been wanting to put on a manual choke because I think there is a problem with the auto choke. It's a bitch to start in the morning. But now I am thinking it May be more related to this and not the choke.

Big vacuum leak somewhere??

Is the automatic choke system allowing the choke plate on the carb to open fully once warmed up? If the choke is not pulling off, it will keep the fast idle engaged just like it's supposed to.

Remove the air cleaner , go through the cold start routine, and then watch the choke action as the engine warms to full temp, that should take approximately 5>7 minutes to fully open the choke and it will be held open by the vacuum choke pull-off.

Could be the gas pedal flexing problem also. Pop the hood and manually control the throttle linkage and see what the engine sounds like. I'm about to take the pedal assembly off mine and attempt to reinforce mine .
