When I bought my rig I ran the 4wheel drive to lube everything on the inside. What do I need to do to it to keep it in good shape as far as maintenance. I read on here to run it weekly to keep everythin lubed. What else can I do. Thanks

Even in 2hi, (4x2) (rwd) whichever terminology you prefer, the t-case is a vital and functioning part of the drivetrain. There is no increased lubrication benefit to the t-case internals realized by running it in either of the front axle engaged selections. The only component(s) receiving lubrication with the front axle engaged are attached to the axle itself, ie the front differential gears and the front lockout hubs. With 30 plus years of hard duty, most x-fer cases will benefit greatly from r/r for inspection and wear part replacement...aka rebuild. If yours is working flawlessly in all ranges, does not make excessive noise, and does not pop out of gear in any selection under load, you could likely get by for a while by simply draining the fluid and filling with either gl-1 (original spec mineral oil) or straight 50wt racing motor oil. Do not use gear oil. That's for your differentials only.
