800 door locks

I've had my 68 Scout for 37 years and wanted to get the doors shutting/operating better. So while trying to get the key locks and locking mechanism to function I found out the latch clicks twice to be able to engage the lock. Mine have only been advancing one click to keep the door shut. I can rotate the latch to click twice when the door is open, but it won't click twice when I shut the door. I'm not sure how to adjust or what ever to make it operate properly. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure what the 800 latch looks like so a picture will help determine your situation.

The striker on the pillar is adjustable. You can probably move it out a bit so you can get the double safety latch.
The last click should hold the door shut tight.

When I adjust the striker it only gets worse. Usually I'm good at stuff like this. On my 63 t-ette I got all 4 locks functioning great. It feels like it's almost there just needs some expert tweeking. I'll try again today. Thanks.

It's unbelievable! I was able to adjust the striker enough to get the locking mechanism to operate properly along with some other minor adjustments and lubrication I now have fully functioning doors after 30+ years of idiocy. Lubricated the window mechanisms as well and these doors are better than they've ever been. I like how pushing the door handle forward locks the door and the key works perfectly locking and unlocking also.

What did you use to lubricate the window mechanism and door locks? I would like to get things working better on a Scout 800 & 2.

I used a engine assembly lube on the window mechanism and liquid wrench on the latch parts. I'm sure somebody knows better than me.
