Can you tell me what the heck is going on??? First I have to say a big ole' tx thank ya'll (all bp)for sharing your infinate wisdom and willingness to freely share what you know -- binderplanet has definately been a life vest for us in this crazy world of all things Scout related
we need to tap into all that wisdom asap -- here's the story --

hubby & I added to our fleet about a week or so ago -- it's a 1979 sii - 345 and to make a long story short... The po was unsure of how long the gas had been sitting in the tank so we trailered it home emptied the tank -- and bam!
Fired right up -- woo hoo ! Or so we thought and pop -- pin hole in the water pipe -- had another one in our spare parts we have randomly acquired primed and painted -- got new o-rings and wahh la -- or so we thought ... Went to start after the pipe install and it made this sound.... See attached video --

what the heck is going on ??

Any help is always appreciated...

Po had it running good -- moved to tx -- parked it in the garage started body work, etc. And then along came baby and we swiped it up off craigslist... According to po sat for less than 2yrs indoors

other impt info you should know:

mallory electric ignition

- we also are using the battery that po sent in it - took 3 full charges before gas flow made to carb after draining tank -- once fuel made it to carb & gas tank plugged in it fired up -- ran for maybe 30sec and there she blows like old faithful upon inspection the water pipe pin hole became a dime sized hole -- completed install of new water pipe and all we got is that crazy noise!!

Oops!!! Crap :-d soo sorry drew! I made a mental note to edit that bp line for iho but we see how that worked out for me!
Ihon forums & master carb Mike mayben saved us when we're rookie buyers and had no clue about anything Scout --

sooo, in all ur infinite wisdom u suggest the same areas to troubleshoot as bp? Anything u know we dont or to test, etc will be truly appreciated!!

The double posting is my ocd.. Just to seek out all info, tricks, tips etc -- and combine the genius of ihon with the info from bp :-d

:wink5: muahahahahahahaha
once I was messing around with two different girls at once. Emails got crossed and then I wasn't messing around with anyone. :d

I don't see anything that needed to be added to the bp thread. Scoutboy64 knows what he's about. I would try what they suggest over in that thread and if it you can't resolve it then try again here.

I am giving you a bit of a hard time but I am not a big fan of cross posting. Asking the same question against different groups can cause you to pull your hair out. You often get contradictory information and fire from the hip advice. I know because I have done it a few times. I have chosen IHOnly north's forum and technicians as the place I go to for answers (and parts when I can afford them) and I couldn't be happier.

Did you mean 74 drew? In the immortal words of jack nicholson..."here I am sweetheart!"

op you are getting some advice over on bp. Some of it from me. But this here forum with the aforementioned mayben presiding, is the be all end all for no holds barred, pure-d-dam factual infowmayshun. Where dyawl think I got the shizz I was spewing to ya over on bp from? Outta thin dam air? Hail no! I be one of professor mayben's prized pyoopulzz. Me an sailor jerry.

Ha ha.. I totally meant 74 not 64.. You know the 6 and 7 are right next to each other on the keyboard and I am missing that middle finger and it's a damn strain on me to reach that extra little bit over to the 7.. So though I mean scoutboy74 I will hence forth type scoutboy64 in honor of the work ethic sailor jerry has instilled in me..

By the way trev.. How can jerry be in my house and your house at the same time?

So web, been checking through any of the mentioned items? Any revelations? Btw, before you go putting too much stock in drew's story about how he was cayusin' two betties at oncet, lemme just say that I know drew and I'm not buyin'. Now, two sheep mebbe...
watcha say papa mayben? Back me up on this'n how boutcha!

It appears as if my other half has already "got it covered" I think he went and got a new starter...

Thank u thank u thank u == ihon for life

Rebuilt starter -- solved a few wiring issues -- and bammm!!!!

The green hornet lives ... Here on the compound :d

thanks to everyone who contributed to our issues!

That's good news. Thanks for the follow up. I still stand by remarks over on the other forum regarding the carb and fuel system overall. It remains to be seen if you'll have driveability issues when you decide to make a regular driver out of it. If you do, that would be the first place I'd look. Hopefully you get off easy this go round. Good luck!
