Hello,
I am selling my Scout II. It is a 79 turbo diesel with around 93000 miles on it. I purchased it a little over a year ago and hate to part with it but we have a third child on the way and need to find a vehicle that can more practically transport the whole family.
The Scout has very minimal rust. There is one spot that just started to bubble below the windshield. The previous owner replaced a couple of the body panels and repainted it before I bought it. Overall the paint is in very good condition with a few minor blemishes. I am not an expert, but it seems to me that when they reassembled the body they could have paid a little more attention to lining the panels up, it is not bad by any means, but some of the reveal lines are not perfect. I have kept the Scout in the garage since I have owned it and it has not been driven in the winter.
The interior is original and is in good shape. The only issue beyond maybe needing some cleaning is the drivers seat has a small (3" or so) rip at the seam on the upper portion and one on the lower portion. The fuel gage does not work, and the knob is missing from the hood release. It still functions, you just May need to use pliers on the shaft as there is no knob. Also, the seat belts have been removed but I have all of them. I also have the under dash ac unit. I believe the ac compressor needs to be replaced.
There are no mechanical issues that I know of. When started cold there is some smoking for about 30 seconds then it clears up. This seems to be typical of the diesels. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.
The Scout is located in white lake, mi (zip 48386) and I would be happy to help arrange shipping, pick up at airport or anything else necessary to help relocate her to a new home.
I have over $12,000.00 int the Scout. Obviously I would like to get that back out of it, but I am interested in any offers. I would love to see it go to someone who will appreciate and take care of it.
