74 S2 345 timing high

Re-stabbed the distibutor Finally it started !!
I replaced the spark plugs they looked bad to me, installed NGK 3320 gap at .035
Recap:
Rebuilt carb 2210 had vacuum advance rebuilt, had bad diaphragm.
Pulled Holley distributor found plastic parts worn, replaced all. checked mechanical advance. cleaned distributor
Reinstalled distributor with new gasket, that was gone too.
Installed Pertronix. removed curved points

Started up
adjusted both mixture screws equally about 1 1/2 turns open, seems to idle highest there.
adjusted curb idle to 650 rpm, its never ran that low without stalling.
Right now I have only the vacuum advance hook up, I have the emissions plugged ( while I was checking for leaks)

The timing is around 8* btdc right now.

Any more thoughts or ideas ?
