Ok..since ive been pondering my low/reverse band and at moment im more conserned with the "reverse servo" which activates the low/reverse band. After my failed stall test which resulted in a so called failure of reverse, but the truck still moves forward while in "d". Dosent "low/ reverse" also apply to first or second gear also? If that is the case then the servo is working properly to apply the band for the first gear...correct me if im wrong..im still going to do a air pressure check to make sure the band tigtens up, but need to remove the valve body for that. Can I apply the air pressure at the fitting on the outside of case for the reverse servo without removing the valve body? As far as the kickdown band goes, that is only applyed when the downsift occurs? Still have pan and filter off and waiting till at least Friday when the temps get back up in 40s at least. What would cause the tranny to feel like the "brakes are on" when put into reverse? If no visable damage is noted to band/ servo?

I don't keep up with all the shift points and in's and out's of these units, I just fix 'em.

The damage is inside the bands and inside the clutches where you can't see the cause of band removal unless you pull 'em down.

Your low/reverse band is not completely gone....yet. In fact, if you tighten it up it May start operating properly again and stay that way for a while, but it is going to fail at some point and leave you down. But it is going to fail.

The front band (the "kickdown") is going to last somewhat longer due to it's design and the fact that in normal use it does not get "used" to the same extent that the low/reverse band does.

So, by adjusting the bands to their correct tension as described in this document:

You May bring it back to life on a temporary basis.

Ok..no problem. Just asking. Im aware that mine will fail in the future. Could be in a month or a yr. For now, im trying to get it back together despite the bitter cold so I can have the truck in case ga gets another freak winter storm. Your topics have been a big help for me so far as ive been off work for 4 days now due to weather. Have plenty of time for reading on here.

I fix vehicles for a living, just that I dont ever dig into transmissions. Im learning.

Ok..no problem. Im going to pull the vb on mine this weekend for a better view. And if I dont see any anything ovious. Im going to drain the tc and start over with a filter/ fluid change. I am going to order the B&M kit and put aside. So if the tranny does decide to crap on me then I will have the parts to rebuild it. My screeename on the bp is "davidwtravelallfan" also a member of the "southeastbinders" club "seba".
