Anybody interested in a 727 auto transmission with a 258 bellhousing, has broken low/reverse band apply lever. Lever is easy to change with transmission out of the vehicle. Transmission has very low miles since rebuild, probably less than 5000 miles. Would like to get $150 for it. Swapped from a 6 cylinder to a v8 so don't need it anymore. Can send or post pics if interested.

Just curious - isn't the bell housing the same between the v8's and the 258 straight six?

I currently have two of em sitting here on a bench. Both from a 73 & 74 that had the 258. I haven't compared them side by side yet. But I could once I pull the 727 out of my 72 that has a 304.

Nope they are different. The 258 bellhousing will bolt up to an amc 304 but not an IH 304. Guess I should have clarified I swapped from an amc 6cyl to an IH v8.

Ok. No worries. Curiosity killen the cat. When I do get the chance to actually work on my own rig, the 727 in my 72 mellow yellow hoopty will be yanked out for a rebuild. But one could dream of the easier softer way. Lol. Not that I was gonna swap it from one of the two I currently have on the bench that was mounted to my ole 258 in my rolled 74.
