72 1310 brake drum wont fit

I recently redid the drum brake hardware and shoes on my 72 1310 pickup in the rear, and I cant get the old drums over the new shoes. I have tried scouring the forums for this and havent found an exact thread to help. I have taken them off and on multiple times and ensured they are set up right. I even went as far as taking a orbital sander to the shoes to thin them so I can slide the drum on. Still no luck. I really am getting frustrated at this point and dont want to turn the drums because I cant find them at any local parts stores.

I figured it out. The star adjuster in my kit was different than the original for some reason. Had to re use the old one.

Interesting. Glad you got it. Yeah, avoid having the drums turned as long as you can safely get away with it. They're hens teeth of solid gold variety.
