71 800 B

New baby encourages sale.

I am sad to say that it is time for me and my trusted 1971 800 b to part ways. I must say that this is the most original, unmolested 800 I've ever had the privilege of owning. Too much time effort and cash has gone into this project to list here.... If you are serious we can talk about specifics in later correspondence. I am in reno, nv and I'm looking for 7500. I will keep this thread open until she's gone or somebody has talked me out of doing this despicable deed.

Thanks carey.... It was a hard decision to make, but I feel like I have to do it. I simply do not have the time nor the money to keep it up anymore.

I'd rather see it go to another enthusiast and be kept in good condition. At this point and time in my life, it will fall into disuse and then slowly into disrepair and I rather not see eileen go out that way.

No longer for sale.... Good friends and a bottle of christian brothers made me see the error of my ways. For now, she will just sit in a dark corner of the garage until the kid turns two I guess. Thanks for all the interest.

Thank god!!!! Just take it out once a month and cycle the fluids. You can not replace some of them. Ask me how I know!

Yeah, I am finding out that to have kids and to play with old trucks, you need to be Rich..... Which I am not.

With college funds to think about and day care bills, priorities shift. I've already sold most of my hit and miss engines, including my newly acquired, and vigorously searched for Tom thumb. Luckily the 800, out of all of my other junk, holds some sort of weight with my wife.

The grandaughter keeps asking me when I'm going to get her a Scout 800, she loved yours, told her to save$$$ and then save some more $$$. Glad you are keeping it. When your kids turn 16 I hope you will teach them how to drive in it too! Be good. Might call on you in February when we are in town just to say hi. We will be going in to wellington and the cv to say hello to Joe and linda too.

I am glad tiffany enjoyed the ride..... If I have her back together for the rallye next year, she is more than welcome to tag along again. At 4 months of age, I am already trying to teach mine to hold a wrench and to clean up oil leaks. Those are mandatory skills if you are going to ever own anything made by International....

Be sure to let us know when you guys are in town, we can at least get a bite to eat or something.....

Will do. Might be in reno a little early in the a.m. To do much, we are going to wellington and need to be in there about 9:00+/-. We are going to come back up through the cv, say hello to linda and Joe papero, then up to reno. Thanks.

Alright, this is back on. I've got other interests brewing and this has to go.

Resealed and replaced worn parts in the trans and transfer case and also replaced the rear engine seal this winter. Drive train is flawless.

Also have a newly factory IH rebuilt 304 that goes with it. The engine is still in pieces (sitting on a palet for 30 years, I tore it down and had the block re honed and cleaned). You supply the labor and the seal kit.

Heck, if I get my new asking price of 8500, I will even throw in the brand new IHOnly alum. Intake for a 304

see the below link for the good, the bad and the ugly.

Please dont waste my time with idle chat or wishing you had the cash.... Ive already dealt with to many flakes and I need to make sure eileen gets a good home

I was in the same situation ,spent four years and about 25 k on my second Scout I have had it for 18years when the kids, mortgage ,hospital ,tax bills started to bite I thought of selling the truck but allways found a way to pay the bills, a frend convinced me earlyon that "you will never get what you spent on it and you will regret selling it,if u can storit it's out of sight out of minde , bring it out when the kids are older " with that in minde and even my wife telling me "you can't sell the truck you spent so mutch time and money on it" .I'm glad I never sold it ,every one I now thet sold there truck say thay now regretit.good luck with your truck ,it looks nice.

I've enjoyed this Scout, it is truely like a family member, but it is time for it to go. I rethought the situation the first time, but the harsh reality is that an 800B is not infant friendly.

Due to the originality of this Scout, it would have been a crime to beat it to death on the rocks, so I was sort of forced into the q tip thing. Well, the time has come to let her go to another home and I am starting a new build on a family rig.

If I had a bigger garage, more money and more sense, I would keep it. Since I don't she is for sale again.

Over 5 years and countless thousands invested, my asking price is still a loosing proposition.

It was sold to a land cruiser enthusiast from ohio. The gentleman had been around rusty junk for a while, but took a break to raise his kids and such. He got the itch to get back into rusty junk but was shocked at the prices toyotas were going for these days. Anyway, he jumped the fence and decided to try IH.

Sounds like a meticulous enthusiast that will give eileen a good can caring garage.... I did not get full price, but I did get close, so I will have an alum. IH 304 intake for sale soon, and since my 1210 sold also, I will have a rebuilt 304 up for sale here pretty soon also.

Dont worry carey, the lambs will be at the IHSFR this year, I will just be representing the agricultural side....
