69' 800A

So I just bought a 69' Scout 800a, and whoever worked on it before did a pretty crappy spring over job, so im wanting to replace the axles and suspension all together.

I know a lot of people like putting Dana 44's from a Scout II in 800's... My question is how much modification is required besides leaf spring perches? Does it require axle tube trimming?

Any insight would be appreciated.

No need to change the axle widths. You will need to turn the "c's" to reset the caster angle. Otherwise a SOA is the same as a Scout II would be. If you have a v8 engine then I would also plan on installing a Scout II power steering box. This way the hysteer installation will be a breeze.

Thanks Jeff!

I found a good deal local on some GM 10 bolts... Do you have any experience with putting those in scouts ? They are nearly the same as d44's..

If you're going to run them full width then I guess they are ok but if you plan on narrowing them keep looking for d44's. Also the rear 10bolt is more than likely a 'c' clip rear end which are inherently weaker.
