I was looking at buying a Scout to turn into a project for a wheeler. I wanna run 35s like I had on my cj7. How hard is it to get them under a 62 80 and is it worthe the trouble?

Welcome to ihon!

If the Scout 80 you are looking at still has it's original axle set, they will be Dana 27 units. 35" tires used in serious off-road use will eat those axles fairly soon. So an axle upgrade should move to the top of the project list. You can see this is a very common question around here.

An axle upgrade should also include a spring-over suspension conversion which will allow clearance for virtually any size tire as long as the engine can turn 'em.

Thanks for the info. I have been a big binder fan for a long time and now I am going to build one. I have been a Jeep guy for years and now its time for me to trade up lol

All the typical Jeep workarounds for axles/suspension stuff pertains the same to a s80! Jeeps used d27 axles too, and they broke just the same as the tires got bigger!
