that's very cool. Nice and original 61.
Mine was sold first in wickenburg az in 65'. Guess they last longer in the dry contry.
. I have a 1961 also, the 8,903rd one made, which I've had since 1974. Happy 50th birthday to our scouts! Mine's been "rode hard and put away wet" as they say. I converted to roll-up windows, and I have both pickup & travel tops. 265k miles on my rig, never had the 152 engine all the way apart. I replaced the rod bearings and rolled in a set of main bearings though & replaced the oil pump in 1979. After the front diff munched (Dana 27 cross pin shattered & all hell broke loose while I was 4-wheeling), I took the plunge and changed front & rear (ra-23 Dana 44 w/Powr-Lok, not stock for that year) r&p from 4.27:1 to 5.38:1. With the warn all-range overdrive, this ratio with 30.5" tall tires and the 4-banger works out just right for me. I like your pto winch installation, did you do that or is that how it came? Yep, that's a fine looking Scout you have there! took the project out to stretch her legs and get a few new photos. 1961 Scout originally purchased locally here in scottsdale az. Has the 152 with a weber 32/36, 3spd transmission, twin-stick transfer case, Dana 27 front and Dana 44 rear axles. Ramsey pto out front.
