50 L-110

Looking at a back yard special. 1950 l110. Ooks pretty straight, no real rust from the pics, all surface. It was owned by an upholstery shop so the seat and the cab look pretty damn good for a 1950.

It has an inline 6 in it, and after some reading it sounds like it is a silver diamond inline 6.

Guy said the carb was gutted off it,

my question is: are parts pretty hard to come by?

Here is the link 50 International pu

I have other pics from the owner

Engine parts for those are not a problem to obtain.

The carb should be a Holley 1904 with a choke cable stopper that enters from the opposite direction compared to the similar carb used on other IH apps (Scout 80). We can fix ya up with the proper carb at some point if needed. The manifold stud spacing should be 2-3/4" center-to-center.

"l" trucks are fairly common in the northwest, this was a big market for 'em back in the day, especially on the east side of the cascades!

I'd have major concern the intake plenum was left open and varmints have entered and had their way with the engine guts. Mice can migrate right through cast iron.

I will post some pics the po sent.

It is a pretty good looking truck. They said they had another motor in the bed with rebuilt heads on it.

Let me know what you guys think. I am really impressed with the interior. Ultimatly, I kind of want something that a little engine work, some body work and a coat of paint would make it a nice looking beat around town pickup. The motor in the rig though kind of has me spooked a little with the head off and carb off. I am pretty dumb, but I would think rust in there would be no bueno.

I can probably negotiate a lower price due to the fact it is missing a title. Any and all advice is appreciated. It is between looking for an old pickup like this or a Scout 80 half cab. Wife really wants some old iron she can bomb around town with and I dont want it to be a giant sink hole like my sii is/was.

Edit: nevermind, work is giving it to me in the pooper regarding pay. /sigh

That is one cool truck. I'd through him an offer and grab it. The engine May be some work but it can be done. Even if you had to find a block because the pistons were stuck you'd have a nice project....

I especialy like the old repair shop graphics on the door.

My guess is that the missing parts are in the bed so don't let the po throw them away.

That motor is going to need a total major! And I'm dealing with one of those same engines right now vicariously for another member, and one of it's forefathers right now in my shop!

But...at least from the pics, the rig appears to be solid and not butchered into a ratrod project gone south. Once the bed is cleaned out though ya May have some large gaps in the sheetmetal!

This is what one of these rigs looks like when done correctly, a '51 l-112, rig belonging to ihon member mendomikee and was his grandfather's ride.

And here's a shot of the motor. However, the copper tubing fuel line is a major no-no!

The best part of these rigs I think...the hood can pivot from either side! And two people can release the latches and remove the hood completely in a few seconds!

Like I said in the edit, I just found out our compensation is being cut by our friends in india. They decided that our commission and such was just too much. I made out better than some of the sales guys. They had a contract for meeting numbers last fy to the tune of 10-12k each. India just decided to not pay it. Never mind we havnt had base salary raises in oh 3-4 years... But this is par for the course it seems.

I really hope that pickemup goes to a good home. It really reminds me of my 53 Chevy I had in highschool. Almost the same exact condition (though I found a 235 to swap in, instead of the 216.)

So, as this unfolds with our compensation stuff, this falls in my lap.

'67 International Harvester pick-up truck

Went to go look at it today and yep, it is almost as good as it sounds.

What it doesn't mention is the clutch is totally gone, the po jerry rigged an electric fuel pump and left the mechanical one in place. And the ignition has been stripped out and a toggle switch and pushbutton installed. The guy doesn't know what he had, and just wants it gone. Guy said he would give it for 400 if I would just take it out of his hair.
