5 speed tranny

I have an opprotunity to buy a 5 spd International trannsmition out of a 1981 International s1800 truck. Im wondering if this trannsmition will bolt onto an older 1971 pickup v8, or if they changed it somewhere down the line. Please shine some light, thanks!
