4th of July Parade - Mt. Angel, OR

IHPA Tech Moderator - Retired & No Longer Online
Come join the mt. Angel, or 4th of July parade with other IHSTO folks!!

We will meet at the home place in silverton @ 10:00am and caravan to mt. Angel. The parade begins at 11:00 and we need to be in the staging area by 10:30am. Mt. Angel is 2 miles north of silverton and 10 miles east of brooks/powerland.

This will be a small town usa parade and since mt. Angel is a farming community there will be people participating who know what International Harvester means. Should be great promotion for IHSTO and the Binder Bee. There is a $5.00 entry fee and we have 10 parade spots reserved. Interested participants should email me to let me know they will attend...contact ken roth, kenlcb@live.com.

Kathy and I will be there. We're gonna park the trailer at the roth compound the evening of July 3 for a work session on rothstuff.

Works out great for us since we are meeting with the powerland folks on Sunday, the 5th to finalize the Binder Bee layout for the following weekend's big show! Ken sez at least six of us will participate, if we don't get the full ten, then we'll all kick in and make the $50 registration fee nut. This fee goes to the community for a fundraiser, let's support 'em!

I don't have anything that can drive in the parade, but maybe the roths have an extra vehicle they want pimped out in the parade and they need a driver. Even if they don't I would pony up 5 bones for an honerary slot.

Since we meet @ 10:00 and need to travel 2 miles to be in the staging area by 10:30, I bet even uber Scout can make that. I will bring a tow strap just in case.

:smile5: I have just never been in a parade that you arrive at 30 min before it starts. Usually you need to arrive an hour or 2 before. But you are in charge.

We had a great time in the parade today. 7 rigs plus and extra one that joined with us. Lots of people watching and even handed out some bee flyers.

Thanks for putting this together, ken. Ready for the next one.

Lyle

The parade through mt. Angel was a perfect small town way to spend the morning of the 4th of July. We were well received and I heard lots of buzz through the crowd when we went by.

The cool bus spit a wheel cylinder sometime during the parade and the brakes went out, but apparently ken didn't need them. He took the all uphill route home.

The pictures are from my wife, just to explain the bias of the pictures towards the kids.

It was a great morning and there are a few more people aware of IHSTO. I knew we were going to have a good day when the parade organizer asked if we wanted to jump right in front of three john deere tractors. I told her that was where IH belonged. It is always good when you start an event with 7 vehicles runin and end with 8. Thanks to all who took the time to be there.

What a wonderful turnout folks! Hope the bee is an equivalent success!!

And the drewkrew made a showup too! Quite an accomplishment...dani won't stop talkin' about this for weeks!!!!

Sorry we had to bail, but the bee is taking precedent over everything right now. I gotta email this afternoon from a parade watcher, wanna show their tractor at the bee...so yawl did guud!

Who's the yeller stakebed????

This definitely needs to be an annual event on the calendar.

Mm - considering the rocks in your kidneys and the bee, you are excused. I believe the bee will be the best ever.

Besides the 7 IH vehicles we had 25 participants inside the rigs.
7 riders (4 grandkids) in the "cool bus" flingin candy and pencils marked "cool bus". Near the end of the parade a lady yelled out "maple grove", "my Dad drove that bus". She was right. Her Dad was Joe ferlan who was one of two drivers the "cool bus" had over 50 years ago.

The yellow stake bed that joined us was at the bee 4 years ago on a trailer. It will be driven this year and is a sharp rig.

Lookin forward to next weekend.
