4 spd shifter question

Just finished installation of a t18 4spd and tc in my Scout 2. With a 3 in boby lift , of course the shifter for the trans doesnt have enough clearance to the rear anymore. Already fixed the tc stick .
Question is, would it hurt to heat the shifter stick and bend it up just enough to clear the cover or should I cut the cover and look for a new shift boot. I wouldnt think it would hurt to heat the rod. Dont really know! Opinions please!!!!

After doing all the bending and almost gettin her done I noticed the a/c duct sitting in the back seat !! Duh!!!!
Did they make a scout2 with a/c and a 4spd and if they did I need a damn shifter to modify later in the year when it starts getting a/c season . Other than that it works and looks great !

Ac was a factory option on the deuces, and considering the ratio between auto versus manual trans was roughly 50/50 throughout the production run, its a pretty safe bet. Them fellas wouldn't let a piddly thing like a gear shift get in the way of climate control.
