345 won't start hot

345 with rebuilt Holley (I think 2245). Still working on getting it tuned after a head gasket replacement (po didn't do the rebuild right).

Starts cold usually without anything extra, though sometimes requires gas prime carb.

Never starts hot. Turns over but never fires, even when priming carb.

Also, when running, neither of the fuel mixture screws seem to affect anything, no matter how much adjusted.

Thoughts? Suggestions? This is all that is keeping us from deq and on the road from a 4 year rebuild.

Just pointing out that the po didn't drive it since the rebuild (nor have we yet), I already found many other mistakes of his, thus don't want to overlook anything "obvious".

I provided more in depth thoughts to your post on the other forum. The quickest, easiest, but also more costly upfront option would be to toss the 22xx into the dumpster where it belongs and put a Holley list 0-7448 in its place. Unless you happen to be a carb rebuilding guru, you're likely to be fighting your present carb from here until you decide to give up on it. What's your time and frustration level worth?

as my mentor stan (rip) once told me, "never trust someone else's rebuild".
