My Scout II has a 345 from an older IH. It has tall domed pistons. Can someone here shed some light on the details of this 345? I was told that it was a pre 67' year 345.
Does the domed pistons have a higher compression ratio?
Your engine is considered a pre-emissions engine and does have slightly higher compression than the flat top version. You will need to stay with those style pistons, otherwise a huge drop in compression will happen if you switched to flat top. A flat top piston can be installed, but you will need to swap out the cylinder heads. We offer pistons and rebuild kits for either style.
