345 Low-Comp Export?

Recently got the LST for my 67 1200b 4x4. The engine code is 12110 / 0100 / afhknty / v 345 gas engine / e-110 / v345 *low comp.export - mt107,118,124.

I have been unsuccessful in finding info on a low compression 345 export. Any help?:icon_question:

As far as I know, it was an ideal engine for exporting to other country's. Low compression.? Why ? I have no idea. Gonna take somebody that really know's it or a old timer to come back from the dead to answer this. Robert k! Help?

Probably had something to do with unknown availability of higher octane fuel. Owners manuals specify regular grade gasoline of 92 octane or higher for us models.

Lets start with referencing another "low comp, export" sv
equipped 1968.

My 1968 1200 LST lists my engine as a 12100 v304 gas engine. Sss LST info says, v304, low comp, export.
I know that both of our engines are non emissions, contoured piston engines. The only other engine option for these two displacement sv engines in 1968 would have been the lp 12101 v304 lpg, a canada specified export, 12098 v304a gas export/canada.
Or 12099 v304a gas w/exh emis.

From this the low comp, export was the standard, non emissions 304, it will have regular 8.19 compression and contoured pistons with the correct cylinder heads.

These same rules will apply for the 345.

Robert is correct. Export designation in the time frame or model year listed would have indicated an emissions or clean air act exemption. Title 19 sez that to build engines for sale in the us they have have to meet epa requirements.

I know IH offered high compression options for the 6's in the r series trucks operating at high altitudes of 5 & 8,000 ft., and some engines for lp use had a higher compression.

All in all a legalese way of saying standard block/heads with no emissions gear.
