Hello,
thanks to all of the knowledgeable Scout people on here for saving me headaches this past couple of months.

I live in the hood river, oregon area and have been a longtime Scout 2, terra, and traveler, owner.

My most recent project has proven to be my biggest Scout challenge...yet.
Roughly 8 years ago I acquired a '76 traveler 2wd with a 345.
I have attached the line setting ticket.

A couple of years later,
it developed a pretty substantial oil leak at the rear main seal.
In a stroke of luck, both good and bad, I noticed a note
on my windshield one night. A guy had lost his Scout 2 off of a flatbed trailer while driving from oregon to florida with his wife and kids while towing it with a suburban, that is the bad luck.
Fortunately, everybody was unhurt physically. While in the tow truck with his family, they passed my traveler and stopped to leave a phone number and note. To make a long story short, I got the Scout for the price of the tow fee of $150.00. I insisted on giving the guy more but he would not have it, that is the good luck.

His Scout had rolled and sat upside down for a couple of hours.
The body was ruined for the most part as you will see in my attached photos. After salvaging every possible part from the rolled Scout, I got rid of the body.
I live in a snowy area and wanted four wheel drive and prefer manual transmission. I have now swapped complete engine and transmissions. I kept the wiring harness from the 1976 traveler intact and traced all circuits to confirm that they matched at both sides of the bulkhead harness.
I have the prestolite box ignition and am getting good spark as far as I can tell. I had a bad ignition module at first but had luckily been down that road and was able to identify it pretty quickly.
The other night I read a bit on a thread which mentioned an oil pump primer tool which should be made and used before starting this engine after so many years. There was mention of camshaft bearing failure if it was not done. I want to make sure I don't have pull this engine out again any time soon.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Tim
