I have a '73 1210 step side pu. Sticker under hood says 392 but stamp on block says 304 a. I am assuming that an engine swap has taken place at some time.
I have just swapped out rear axle (factory Dana 60 4.10) to a '78 Ford f350 (single) Dana 61 with 3.07 gears thinking I had a 392. To the best of my knowledge the gearbox is a t19 4 speed.
Anyone have any experience with load/tow capacity effects with the 304 and a 3.07 dif ratio? Good? Bad? As tow rig.
Footnote: when getting adapter u-joint for shaft to pinion discovered shaft is 1310 not 1210.
