2WD Ball Joint?

Evening,
my left front tire is leaning in at the top, I'm assuming its the upper ball joint, but its a two wheel drive truck. All the parts listed online, from here to napa say, "4wd" or "awd" for the models that their ball joints fit. Any idea if they'll work on a solid front axle? My truck is a 1973 1110, 392 automatic 2wd. Thanks.
 
With the 1110 4x2, you should have an fa-1 axle. It has little to nothing in common with the 4x4 front driving axles, so the parts will not interchange. I do know there is a king pin set readily available for that axle, but the upper and lower ball joints are a different story. You might try giving the nice gents at IHPA a call on Monday to see if they can source what you need.
 
I called IHPA today, they said that for my application I am out of luck. It seems a solid front axle on a two wheel drive set up is a completely different monster than an independent or four wheel drive set up. I'm planning on pulling the whole front end apart and taking the ball joints in to a shop, perhaps I can find another application or at least a close facsimile. Any suggestions? Thanks....

What you are looking for is a "kingpin set". Napa still shows them and has 11 in stock in their nationwide system.. Any napa store should be able to order it. Is a number ncp 262-1367. Comes with new kingpins and brass bushings that are pressed into the knuckle. The brass bushings are then reamed to match the diameter of the kingpin. I would think any machine shop would be able to do that now days. In the old days most any garage would have had a kingpin reamer but I'd imagine hard to find now days unless you'd come by an old place that's been around a long time.

I did this on my 69 1210 years ago. I had a buddy whos grandad had the reamers, took the knuckles off and took them to him, he pressed the bushings in then reamed them to match the kingpins. Made a huge difference in the way it drove too.

Sorry about the confusion but farmall57 is correct. Not sure who you spoke to here but yes we can get king pin kits. If you would like to call back and ask for me I will be glad to check into it for you(if I'm not available at the time then leave a message). I will need to verify what front axle that you have otherwise I will not be confident in sourcing you the correct parts.
 
What about ball joints and bj bushings Jeff? As I informed the op and has been confirmed several times, the kp sets are readily available. The ball joints wear out too though. I'm facing this same shit storm with mongo although it is a different axle number, it appears to be the same sad story. I know the ball joints are totally shot. Kp's May need replacing too, but the biggest issue for mongo is the bj's. Is there any hope for replacements?
 
Are you talking about the tierod ends? For ones not available we can have them sent out and rebuilt but it is somewhat costly.
 
I'm sorry everyone. I made a dumbutt error. I got confused on the parts diagrams between a torsion bar front axle which does have ball joints, and the solid front axles which do not have them. This would include the fa-1 axle in the 1110 models and the fa-12 that I have in my 1210 mongo. If you have a solid fa, you need the king pin sets and tie rod ends. Jeff, no wonder you had no idea what I was asking about. I need an "I'm with stupid" emoticon.:eek:
