The Plan

Not enough money for a spring lift so I will have to do with what I have.
I already acquired a '78 traveler from my father in law. I will use the Dana 44s front and rear from that. Disc brakes up front and larger drums in the rear.

SOA. Break the knuckles loose and give them 5 degs pos. Caster. Rotate the front differential about 12 degs. Up...

Z-link steering using a method I found on another forum. Providing strength by encasing the cut and bent drag link with 3/4" angle iron.

Replace the long shackles with the stock ones and put the stock traveler springs under the rig.....

Here is my gage.. My buddies 4-runner. This wont do.. :nono: the Scout must show its beef on the outside not just the inside.

You will be repairing it again if you don't upgrade or at the very least replace your current one. Looks really good though, are you bringing it to the rallye?

1st Snow

Well, I would have to say that my Scout does wheel extremely well in the snow. However, it seems that even a good wheelin' rig is only as good as its driver and this driver is not immune to mistakes. Here is my first stuck.the ol' Scout did hold together well and after returning the atf that poured out the trans tube I was able to drive back down the trail.

:icon_4laugh: I made sure not to lose anymore fluids.. They were kept secure, and consumed while waiting for rescue. Not to condone that though. I was definitely reprimanded by the way better half at home. :nono:

Yes. The pucker factor was around 9.2 I still had seat cushion when all was said and done though.

Well it is update time. I have the 4.56 gears and rear locker sittin at my shop waiting for install. I went with an ox locker for the rear and will keep the front open until I can catch up to my outstanding bill. This is getting quite expensive and I have alot more to go.
Hopefully I will have some trail pics soon.

Fyi. I did return to the snow and actually dominated it quite well. It wasn't until I got hung up on a fallen tree I was trying to cross that I got stuck and needed assistance to get over. Note to self: throw the chainsaw in the back of the Scout. :incazzato:
