1980 Scout

In the mid 80s I owned a 1980 Scout II. 4x4. Automatic. Gasoline powered. White top over powder blue body. I loved that truck but couldn't afford the payments when I went back to college full-time.

Now I'm 55 and would love to find one. I know 1980 was the last year - the only Scout with square headlights.

Are there many 80 scouts still out there to be found?

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Welcome david. There were only 13,106 scouts produced in 1980. Its impossible to know how many of them are still around nearly 35 years later. Rust maggots are voracious feeders and they never take a day off. The plastic grilles housing those square headlights are often rotted and cracked. Then there's the personal preference factor. Some owners have decided that the 1980 grille design is just downright fug-lee and have thus retrofitted to an earlier ('72-'75) metal version with round lights. Good luck in your quest.
