1980 International Scout 2 a.k.a. "The Nice One"

Great looking ride mate. Those rims and that tyre size is exactly what I'm looking for. The beauty of checking someone's posts online. so where did you score them and how much?
I reckon I fit in the same category as you, certainly no purist. However probably a little crazy as by the time I've spent my dough and imported all my parts, it would have to qualify as dedicated.
Every where I plan to drive is going to start with trips of 4000km return so the engine and saving money on fuel is key. To that end I'm thinking of dropping in a toyota 1 hd ft it's a 24v 6 cyl diesel out of a land cruiser. We can get adaptor kits to mate it up to a 700r4 trannie. Plenty of pull and a gears that will let me roll at cruising speed of 130 km/h(80mph). Which means that the diff ratios.....I reckon my wife will give me this one shot. So why not make it suit my dreams.
Your ride looks sweet bro.

Thanks man, I'm really happy with the way it's coming along. The wheels are ultra 164's in 16x8. I scored them for $120 after the guy who bought them found they wouldn't fit on his toyota rav4 :icon_rolleyes:

the tires are 265/75r16 firestone destination m/t's, which I purchased from firestone for around $800. I'm sure jealous of all your diesel engines over there. I wanted one of those bad when I had my fj40.
