1976 scout II smog ?

I just got a 1976 Scout II with a 345 v8 that has not ran in years. I am going to take the axle from it for my cj5. I would like the Scout to be my next project if it is not going to be to hard to smog it. I live in cali and was curious how involved this will be to get it to pass smog. Like I said it has not ran in years and I am not sure what smog equipment is still there. What is the general consensus, is this a project worth persuing or should I get rid of it.

If the sheetmetal is in really good condition, I would say preserve the '76 for a future project. For calif, the 345 should have: the 2210c 2bbl carburetor, pcv, egr valve/system, air pump (aka: smog pump) with air tubes into the heads, thermo air cleaner with flapper and foil hose, and sealed fuel filler cap. There is a device mounted on the firewall called a dcm, but as long as it is present (not necessarily functional), it doesn't seem to attract any further attention.

Where in CA do you live?

I live in merced, there are dents in some of the sheet metal, not to much rust though. It is also a 2wd with a automatic so I would have to convert it to 4wd if that is even possible. I would be putting in some Dana 60s or something like that anyway. Thanks for the reply erik, the smog doesnt sound impossible, but could be a very pricey project I am guessing.
