1968 1500 axle swap

Hello folks,
I am buying a 1968 1500 Ex US Navy truck. It has the big (5) lug 8.25-20 tires. To get around this,( wanting a modern tire-wheel option) I have an opportunity to buy a 1984 IHC 2.5 ton truck. I am wondering if swapping the 2.5 ton front and rear axles into the 1.5 ton chassis is possible. Any thoughts or insight. Thank you

Not a lot of medium duty truck guys here. While I don't know the answer to your question, I think the main issue is brakes. I'll bet your 1500 is juice and the new axles have air brakes. My 1700 has a 345 with a belt driven compressor.
