1966 304 V8 Rebuilding Oil Pump

I got the pump cleaned out and put back together.
I cannot find a spec on how tight the pump bolts are supposed to be. When I tightened them to where I thought they should be the shaft would not freely spin.
I loosened and then re-tightened to 10 ft-lbs.
Is there a solid number I could use? I am checking the service manual pages 43-44 and page 64 for torque spec- other than the mounting bolts, I don't see anything.
Any other advice much appreciated. Without oil you got nuttin'.

The gaskets in the oil pump rebuild kit are made of different thicknesses. You are supposed to use the gasket that gives you the proper shaft endplay. The service manual should have the specs on the endplay and torque specs for a 5/16" bolt.

Thanks for your response.
Unless I missed this somewhere, I only received on thin white paper gasket in the kit. This was in a thin manila envelope. Also included in the kit, were two intake manifold gaskets for the 345 / 392 engine. Not sure there were part of the kit or not.

Jeff- Thanks for the spec - i used the one in the manual and it was too tight. :p Looks like I might not have gotten a complete oil gasket kit set?

Did you purchase an oil pump rebuild kit or an engine gasket kit? As I mentioned in my first post, the oil pump rebuild kits have multiple gaskets.

I ordered the engine gasket kit. The kit I ordered came with a single oil pump gasket that fits with the little hook on it. I assumed this was all needed as this is what was in the kit.
 
The oil pump Rebuild kits come with new gears a sleeve for dist and thin plastic shims that are .003". It's not really a Gasket as they are just used to set end play of the gears.
 
Hey - thanks to all! My new oil pump came today. I look at this as a heart transplant. :p I did not know these were still available.
