Hello. I am looking for two brake drums for my 1963 C1200 4x4. I am not finding ANYTHING. What are people doing to get around this problem? Thanks for the advice.

Get creative. I custom engineered and built a set of disk brakes for mine. I'm sure you could find a drum that will work with some machining. As far as stock replacements, forget it. Might be some NOS hiding in a part's house or garage but.........
I have since sold the truck.

Good luck.

Agree with Robert, I have looked everywhere for front drums for my '64 C1200 - no dice. Robert, how tough was your custom job? Scoutboy74 says my best bet is a more modern 8-lug GM axle.

I don't think the disk conversion is particularly that tough, just have to have the ability to design and machine all of the parts. I do think there should be a commercially available drum that can be made to fit that application. There are online catalogs that have detailed dimensional drawings of the drums they offer. That is where I started for the rear 3/4 ton drums I put on my 68 1200 Travelette. I just sold it but here is a link the the build thread. Included are some photos of the front and rear brake fixes. I was fixated on retaining the stock axles and hub caps for the OEM look.
SB74 is probably in that an axle swap to 8 lug would be cheaper. I just never considered that an option for me.

Too funny, I just wrote to SB74 about losing my IH locking hubs with that route. Maybe you and me were separated at birth.

I just posted in the classifieds that I have big 6 axles for sale. Pretty sure drums are good.

Nothing real creative.... Chevy c&c 14 bolt rear, 3/4 ton Chevy 10 bolt front. I live in an area with lots of grades and lots of cars so better brakes than non power/single circuit were a pretty necessary upgrade...... that lead to hydroboost which lead to power steering etc. etc.
