Robert, here's the block I want to put the 392 e head on, the head is non ic, & no air/inj. Pretty much the same as the old head combustion chamber wise.

That block is a contoured piston engine.
You can't use that head in your picture.
You will need the early round chamber head.

You need a head like this. Notice the round chamber.

Ok, thank you ! So then which 345 head would work, 1 with the same style combustion chamber ? The very early 345 ? Jeff

Jeff,
would you mind doing us a favor? Get a close up shot of what looks like a little hole on the deck, outside the bore of #3 piston, at about the 5 o'clock position? A similar hole popped up on my block when I had it decked, and there's conjecture as to what it is. Can you measure fairly precisely how far from the edge of the bore it is?

I'm sorry Mark, I don't have the block,it's in ky, im in ohio. Doing this as a favor for a friend. Thought I had the right head, but didn't ! Jeff ( best I could do ! )

We were discussing a 196/392. The contoured 196/392 piston crown is likely to big to fit into the same styled 345 head.

I can only consider recommending you use a round chamber 196/392 head.
