196 and power questions

I tried to do a search but came up empty.

So I have a spare decent running 196 now and I was thinking about doing a "power" build with it. Since its half of a 392 and people have gotten some pretty impressive reliable power from them...why can a 196 be done the same way? What I would like to end up with is 140-150 hp and 200-225 tq possible?

Here are the facts on the 4 banger performance w/o turbocharging.

Horse power is making torque at a higher rpm. Rpm requires useful cam duration, light recip. Masses and air flow.

Torque is displacement and low rpm cylinder pressure. Cylinder pressure is the ability to fill the cylinder with air and fuel and compress it to yield the most effective use of the combustion.

Achieving both increased hp and torque are counter to each other

cam= No new cam blanks are available so a quality grind won't be easy or cheap if it even can be done.

compression= Will help but will require better fuel quality but really yield only a little by is self.

carburetor= No manifolds are available so you're stuck with a 1 barrel. Or monkey junk adapter and small 2 barrel.

cylinder head improvements (flow)= This is a must and it will cost a bunch based on hours on a flow bench. No hack port buzz job will do anything worth talking about.

reduce reciprocating mass= Rods and pistons and they are not cheap.

While I May sound very negative on performance mods, I really think for the money, turbocharging a 4 banger is way cheaper and you'll be happier in the long run.

Thanks Robert!

Has anyone done a successful blower setup on a 196 that you know of?

What kind of boost will it take to get those numbers? More interested in more tq than anything else.
