196 4 banger head

It could be physically attached, but I believe the real issue is with alignment/arrangement of coolant passages. I think its a no-go, but Robert kenney and possibly others could tell you for sure.
 
I see from your other post that your 196 runs really well. You must be after that mythical bump in compression. It isn't enough to be worth the toil and trouble even if the alignment was perfect. The good news is, you can enjoy your good running 196 as is and spend a little less time under the hood chasing unicorns.
 
Compression wise, what would be the norm for a stock 196 engine?
I understand the + / - variance between cylinders.
