1958 A-120 4x4 and so it begins...

HI folks -
I will use this thread to share what I get into and learn along the way. Got this lovely beast shipped to me from Idaho. The engine runs strong and doesn't leak. Body is in general very solid, some rust in the passenger compartment on the floor, lots of dings and some tears in the sheet metal. The glass is all here! door glass sort of goes up and down. The electrical system is a mess, the interior of the cab needs a ton of TLC.

Further exploration has turned up some fascinating adaptations from the previous owner...more on that later.

Here are few - I am still documenting the current condition. More to come.

Here is my first curiosity. When I turned the truck off and was testing out the electrical systems in ACC position I heard this whirring noise. In off position no noise. Exploration led me to the underside where I found this!

Which upon further tracing I realized was connected to this.

The person who sold it said they cleaned out the gas tank when resurrecting the truck. And now oddly I have 2 gas pumps since you can see a new mechanical pump is still inline. Upon first glance I thought the Fram Oil filter was a modern oil filter bypass...but clearly it is cleaning the crap out of my fuel.

and then I found the worst bit of news so far...

And the crappiest thing the previous owner didn't tell me about was the cracked frame member...which is right where the electric fuel pump is installed so ignorance is no defense.

I can see a long time ago someone welded the bracket but the crack in the frame member looks newer and the bracket appears to have re-cracked.
