1904 carb S110

My 1904 carb has never really given me any trouble, but I was letting my truck sit and idle for a little bit when gas started running out of the top of the carb. I shut it off and let it cool down and tried it again and it still did it. On the top of the carb there is a piece that sticks up with a hole that goes all the way through it, it is right next to the vent rod valve I think. It is like the gas builds up and then pumps out of the hole. Something must be blocked somewhere, any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

The carb simply needs a rebuild! Typical life expectancy for any carburetor with today's fuel is no more than two years.

The needle/seat is not shutting off in a positive fashion, and it's possible that the float has a pinhole and has taken on fuel.

The issue describe simply means that the fuel level in the bowl is too high and it emerges from the external vent. Liquid fuel is also going down the inside of the carb resulting in a super-Rich condition. Do not tap on the body with any type of instrument, the zinc bodies are very soft and will either crack or distort. The only way to correct this issue is to recondition the carburetor.

If you read through the threads just for the 1904 carb issues here in this sub-forum, you will find far more factual information than on any other website on the 'net.

I have 1904 carb builds in progress constantly, right now there are two on the bench and two waiting! Our recently launched "carburetor shop" information May be found here:
