1904 Air Filter and cast iron intake.

Rob,
great pictures. I added text to one to indicate what I see and would do for the test in addition to blocking the pcv. I also assume the pcv you have is correct for the application and installed the right way around.

The intermittent bouncing vacuum reading to me indicates a sticky valve. Make sure the fuel is fresh and clean. Even the remnants of old fuel and varnish can exasturbate (abc?) the valve sticking issue. Even if you have verified that you have a good valve train oiling condition

Will do, thanks, the reason the vacuum fitting is blocked on the carb is that there is not enough vacuum there to advance the distributor. I put an hei ignition on and the advance didn't work from the carb, that's why you see the t in the line. I'll let you know how everything works out.

Ok, in that case make sure you disconect the vacuum from the distributer and block the port while you are setting the base idle timing. I'd be in the 10* range.

The 1904 timed vacuum port will not supply any measurable vacuum at idle. Only afrer the you are driving with the throttle partialy open will the vacuum be sufficient enough to pull advance.
