152 Engine Comanche?

I pulled the engine out of my '66 Scout today to replace some seals and gaskets and paint it. While I was cleaning off all the grease and dirt I noticed a sticker on the valve cover that said comanche. The sticker was almost worn off, but I could tell that is what it says. My question is this... Was comanche some sort of special engine, or did someone just put a sticker they thought looked cool on the valve cover? If comanche was some sort of engine upgrade, how do I tell if that is what my engine really is, or if someone just put a different valve cover on it somewhere along the line? It is not that important to me either way. It just raised my curiosity. Thanks.

The logo "comanche" was nothing more than a marketing ploy back in the days when motor vehicle manufacturers though they could blow smoke like that and it would win over a customer!

For a period of time, all the IH light line vehicle engine apps carried that designation. That made them to appear to not be truck motors which were used in all sorts of ihc-produced medium duty vehicle applications and agricultural products.

Chevrolet did the same...referring to some of their inline six cylinder motors as "blue flame"! Man, wouldn't that make ya wanna buy a Chevy today???

There is nothing about the "comanche"-labeled power units that is any different, they are all truck motors!
