I am still on the fence on this one....1967 1100a 2wd with a 345 and a four speed with compound first gear. My thought are:
-finish the front brakes and sell it...ahhhhh (long story on the brakes)
-finish the brakes and save up for making it a tow vehicle...
-re-arrange the entire vehicle to make it a sick rock crawler (this would not please my wife!)
-make it a super lumber truck for my wood needs.

It's a nice truck and the engine runs. Interior is shot. I have the front grill. My real question is...what would you do?

Right now I have to go get brake lines to finish up the front brakes....

As a 2wd pickup, it isn't going to be much of a rock crawler. Is the rear diff a track lock? Are you sure the truck is a 1100 series? Check the spec tag on the driver side door. The 1100 series will have a solid front axle and the bolt pattern for the wheels will be 5 bolt on 5 1/2" circle.
The body looks pretty straight, just needs some paint. Front seats from a 'c' body Travelall will fit, as will the door panels.

@bill...yeah I'm sure it is a 2wd 1100a....in the quotes I mentioned my wife would be pissed at this concept since it would be a major project. Ditch old axles for 14 bolt commercials etc, etc, etc....a lot of work but would be cool. I'm thinking more along the lines of super lumber truck with rock crawling capability down the road.....first things first.....this thread is 2 votes lumber truck so far....I was leaning this way in the first place but wanted a 'concensus' of sorts from my peers....I might have to crawl over a big log with a load so it isn't out of line to want major reduction for that...wouldn't want to lose my load...lol (will that explanation fly with the 'ol lady???) I don't think I'm going to paint it...maybe a clear coat for future rust prevention. I like the 'rat rod' look...if I make it pretty I won't want to rough it up in the woods between trees and white thorn....you should see my newish dodge's paint job after five years of out of state hunting and wood gathering....scratch/dent city.
@orng blsm spcl...you're right. But making it that as a 'lumber truck' sounds better to my wife hah!

That's one hell of a project for sure.

I would finish the brakes, even if that meant putting in Chevy parts.

This is the classic IH style a lot of people like.

I would wet/dry sand it and paint it with some inexpensive urethane paint. I can get the whole package for $104 out the door. Paint, thinner , hardener.

Unless your into the true classic car/truck show where they like to show off the original patina.

Since it is an 1100a I doubt it will do a very good job of being a lumber truck due to the fact it won't carry that much of a load.

It will take a lot more of a load than the same size truck from the big 3 will.

But in the final analysis, it is still just a half ton rated truck.

As far as a tow vehicle is concerned, it will tow quite a load and do it without breaking the bank every time you have to fuel up. But even with the optional fuel tank you won't be able to go that far between fill ups--9 and 14 gallons doesn't go very far. Plus, with just a standard cab you won't be taking the family with you in it.

I am voting for the get it ready for sale and find something else that better meets the needs idea.

Last summer at the Binder Bee a guy had a 1967 travelette campermobile for sale with lots of extra parts for a very reasonable price.

Spending a little more $$$ up front on something that better fits your needs is better (at least imho) than spending endless $$$ on a project.

First things first I guess. Call capitol clutch & brake and deal with my brake lines....thanks for all the input so far I need it!:cornut:

@Craig...thanks! This give me options....save me from perhaps switching out my wheel cylinders as well....long story. I am good at drum brakes now though. Any good drum to Chevy disc conversion threads out there? The rear end is a different story. I'll tackle that later....if needed. Might be sold before that......:confused5: sell...keep...sell...keep...
