54 international R-100

Hi I just bought a 54 r100. It needs total restoration.I would love to put a hopped up 392 in it with a t-19 four speed ( no granny). I know I will have to do something with the steering column. I saw an artical in classic trucks where the put an independant front suspension on a 54 r100 with a rack and pinion. Any thoughts or help would be great. Just wanted to keep the old International all International.

Hi Joe.
I just bought my first International.
A 1955 r102. This car was customized about 20 years ago with the 55 r102 body on a 72 1010 chassis and drive terrain.
Its got torsion bar front suspension, 304/727 and Dana 60 rear end. Really happy with the car so far, seems to just need a good service.
Btw, I got 2 gal. Of 306 20w50 engine oil from the distributor in norway. Payed 450$!! Best be the best engine oil in the world! :icon_biggrin:
just ordered my first parts from IHPA yesterday.
