For those going on the fordyce trail run the Friday before the event this is your planning thread. Most meet at the cisco grove campground Thursday night so that an early Friday morning departure can be made. Once the trail ride is complete make the drive over to lake francis resort for the remaining weekend festivities.

Departure time to be 8:00am at the cisco grove store parking lot. Michael dimock will be attending and should be able to answer some of your questions.

In, post up if you are going. I know a few of you oregon fools are headed down and it sounds like a few socal guys are headed up. Should be a larger bunch of people this year.

Roth and team girl Scout will be making the trip from oregon again this year. Like years past, we will be running the con early in the week, and assuming our junk is still running, fordyce Thursday and Friday.
As it stands now we plan to run the lower part, up to committee on Thursday. Then from committee up on Friday.
What we're not sure about is if we'll camp at cisco Thursday, or out on the trail.

If camped on the trail at committee, that won't be a problem. All the rest of us stragglers could meet you there in the morning on Friday.

Most likely to be cisco or committee, unless our junk is broken beyond repair. We'll let you know as soon as we figger it out.

After our club meeting last night, the few of us that are coming up had a talk about travel time and trying to run fordyce. We will be leaving soca pretty late on Thursday night and most likely staying in manteca (have family there) over the night. Then get back on the road when we wake up.

As of now our intentions are to not run fordyce but to go straight to lake francis, unload, setup and hit up something near by.

Side note:
is there any interest from any of the clubs going to IHSFR to lead us in a shorter run near or on fordyce say mid day Friday?
Both scouts are capable and legal.

I ask because I'm sure there has to be a few guys up there that want to run a trail Friday but won't be close to making the 8am stage time. Instead, a 2nd group can run mid day on another trail or some of fordyce (if thats possible? Ive never been on fordyce)

Well, I could give you directions on how to run the short jaunt from the lake to committee crossing or you could run the beginning of the trail to the first water crossing and back (4 hrs w/o breakage). I don't know if anybody else will be there later or not. It's about 1.5hrs to the trail from lake francis. Or you could go to the yuba river where hwy 20 crosses from some fun (approx .5hrs driving). Lots of area at the river to zoom around in and if you head west paralleling the river there is some light wheeling.

If we could line up something like any of those suggestions, that would be perfect.

I'll talk to the guys and see what they say, a quick 4/5 hour run would be nice to do since none of us have wheeled passed fresno before.

Start to finish, eagle lakes road to commitee is 6 hours max with two capable rigs that do not stop for pics, etc. We did it in 4 with a little snow on the ground in full size rigs.

That is what I would do, since you have never been past fresno........

Is there a website I can look at to find the trail head for us to possibly do that run? Is that fordyce or the trail named something else.

There are a few websites out there. Youtube has lots too.

starting the trail at 10 where are the socal guys?

Bummer! Wish we saw this post in the morning but even we had, we were zombies by then. The all nighter drive killed us by the time we got to lake francis. Was nice meeting you and the family at the camp ground though, funny how you were our neighbors at camp.
